10180: Murdo Smith

Murdo, son of Alex Smith and Alexina Macleod, 1 Shieldenish served with the RAF Regiment in the UK and Far East during the Second World War. After the War, he worked for the Marquis of Bute, training weavers in setting up the Bute weaving industry. He married Joan Mackay, 2 Keose Glebe at Laxay in 1948 and moved to Glasgow. Murdo was dispatch manager for Cook & Son, a subsidiary of BMK. He built a guest house in Shieldinish which is now the Cleitir Hotel. Retired to Hillsview, Keose.
