Neil (1829-1900) was a son of John Mackay and Catherine Macinnes, 1 Old Achmore and latterly 3 Achmore. Neil married twice, his first wife being Catherine Mackay, Garynahine. After the death of Neil's father, 3 Achmore was split and Neil took over 3b Achmore, settling there with his wife and having two children, Donald and Ann.

Neil's second wife was Mary Mackay, 16 Achmore. The couple had three children, Catherine, Malcolm and Margaret.
