Neil, born 1816, was a son of Malcolm Mackay and Ann Mackenzie, Peinthinndelein and latterly 2 Old Achmore. Neil married Catherine Ross from Crobeg. The couple settled at 2 Achmore. During the 1840s the Mackay family left Lewis.
