105164: Norman Paterson

Norman was born in 1889, the son of shopkeeper & merchant Angus Paterson and his wife Catherine MacCuish of Geo Dhubh and later 20/21 Borve. He was passed the croft following his parents’ death in 1925.

Following his own death in 1967, the croft was passed to his nephew Angus Archie MacLean.

Norman was the first person on Berneray to own a tractor. He kept a shop and in addition provided all items necessary for funerals, using his tractor to transport the coffin.
