105729: John Angus Paterson

John Angus was born in 1909, the son of merchant Finlay Paterson and his wife Christina MacCuish of Geo Dhubh. He was a pupil at Berneray School between 1916 and 1925.

He owned several boats, including the Kelvin, which was passed to him from his father, the Boy Andrew, the Dunbeath Castle and Sweet Home.

In 1960 he piloted the royal barge when the royal family crossed from the Royal Yacht Britannia to picnic on the southern shores of Berneray.
