John (1928-1997) was a son of Angus Campbell and Mary Kerr, Caw, Isle of Harris. He was married to Murdina Morrison, 1 Ungeshader and they had four daughters. They lived in Glasgow where John was employed in a Singer sewing machine factory before becoming a Church of Scotland missionary.

His missionary work took him to the Isles of Skye, North Uist, Lewis, Harris, Eigg and Coll. He was a missionary in Brenish from 1963-1967 and lived at the Mission House. His last charge was in Leverburgh, Isle of Harris before retiring to 12 Carishader.

He was a local councillor from 1994 until his death.
