Andrew MacRae, born about 1841, was the son of Duncan MacRae and Peggy Fraser. A farm servant, Angus came from Pabbay to marry Marion MacCuish on Berneray in 1862. Together they were to have eleven children, the first three of whom were born on Berneray. They made their home in Lochmaddy and later North Glendale, South Uist.
