Neil (born 1900) was a son of  Murdo Buchanan and Margaret Morrison, 6 Brenish. He moved with his family to 1 Carnish in the early 1920s.

Neil emigrated to Wyoming and returned to Uig to build the house at 1 Carnish. He returned to Wyoming and married the Ranch owner's daughter.

Neil subsequently sold 1 Carnish to John Shaw.
