Teacher Johanna Morison of 29 Newton Street married news reporter William Grant in 1906. In 1917 William founded the Stornoway Gazette with his wife's support. She continued as proprietor of the paper following her husband's death in 1932, with their youngest son James Shaw Grant taking the role of editor.
