109597: Angus Murray

Angus Murray was a boundary shepherd in Old Glen Tolsta. It is thought he may have originally lived in Tong.

The earliest record of him in Glen Tolsta dates to 1830: when he and his son John paid rent there.

Angus married Ann Macdonald, but it is not clear where they settled. Angus had at least four children: three boys and a girl.

In 1842, after Old Glen Tolsta was cleared, Angus moved to Tong. Before leaving he sold his sheep at 7/6 a head, with their lambs thrown in.

It is not clear if he is the same person as Angus Murray, if it were there would have to have been at least two marriages and several missing kids in both records. Alternatively he could simply have been a cottar in Tong.
