John (born 1828) was the son of Kenneth Murray and Mary Graham; it is not known where the family were living at the time of his birth.
In 1830 the family obtained 7 Old North Tolsta.
In 1841 the family emigrated to the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
John married Ann Martin who had links to Tolsta and Quebec.
