111531: John Maclean
John Maclean (1818-1888) was the son of Christina Maclean. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Isabella Murray and Alexander Maclean, of Old South Tolsta Tack.
By 1830 the family were cottars in Old South Tolsta.
The family left Tolsta for Ness, sometime after 1832. In Ness, John became known as “‘ain Tholastaidh” and “ain Dìlleachdan” (the orphan).
John married Catherine Morrison and the couple settled at 15/16 Borve, Lewis.
