Roderick MacKinnon, born 1842, was the son of catechist and schoolteacher Donald MacKinnon and his wife Isabella Nicolson. His family had been living in Ruisgarry, Berneray in 1841, moving to Harris to live at 6 Obbe by 1851.
Roderick emigrated to Australia in about 1885.
