John, born 1839, was the son of John MacLeod and Ann MacKinnon of old Ruisgarry. When Ruisgarry was re-organised in 1845, the family was moved to 6 Kyles Scalpay.
John’s first wife was Marion MacLeod of 19 Kyles Scalpay, and they lived together in Geocrab. He later married Effie Morrison from Cheesebay. They emigrated to Saskatchewan.
