Effie, born 1810, was the daughter of Ewen MacAulay, Claddach Kirkibost. In 1827 Effie married farmer Finlay Morrison of Ruisgarry, where they made their home. Together they were to have eight children. In 1848, three years after the re-organisation of the crofts in Ruisgarry, the family emigrated to Louisburg, Cape Breton.
