Angus, born 1843, was the son of farmer Donald Morrison and Catherine Paterson of Ruisgarry. About 1845, with the re-organisation of the Ruisgarry crofts, the family emigrated to Loch Lomond, Cape Breton. It was in Cape Breton that he married Mary Morrison, an immigrant from Borgh Bheag, Harris.
