Donald Munro
Donald Munro
Donald (1833-1922) was the son of Alexander Munro and Marion Martin of Old Ruisgarry, Berneray.
During the 1840s, with re-organisation of Ruisgarry’s small crofts into larger ones, the family were moved to Borve. The ruins of their house, Tobhta Alasdair 'ic Anndaidh, are still evident.
However, in 1854 the crofts were taken for Borve Farm, and the family moved to Arnish, Lewis.
Donald lived at 20 Branahuie and in Gress Tack.
He married Ann Macleod of 40 Back. They moved several times before finally settling at 40 Back. The couple had eight children and in due course 40 Back passed to their youngest daughter.
