Chirsty MacKillop

Chirsty MacKillop

Chirsty, born 1803, was the daughter of John MacKillop and Catherine MacLeod of Borve. Their home was at a site now known as Tobhta Iain 'ic Bhàic. Chirsty married Norman MacLeod, a tenant farmer in Ruisgarry. During the 1840s, with the re-organisation of Ruisgarry’s many small plots into larger ones, the family was moved to 5c Deiraclete, Harris. Following the death of her husband in 1856, Chirsty continued to croft. It is possible that the family emigrated to Ontario during the 1860s.
