113389: Hugh Ferguson
Hugh, born 1830, was the son of Donald Ferguson and Una MacDonald of Ruisgarry. About 1845, with the re-organisation of Ruisgarry’s crofts into larger plots, the family emigrated to Grand River, Cape Breton. Hugh married Rachel MacAskill of Loch Lomond at Grand River in 1859. Together they had eight children.
They lived for a while in Provincetown, Massachusetts, returning to Canada in 1869. Hugh died at St Esprit in 1884, and was buried at Fergusons’ Lake Cemetery.
