Joan (1925-2017) was the daughter of Duncan Maclean and Margaret Campbell; it is not clear where she was born her parents were initially cottars at 51 North Tolsta, but at some point the family obtained Sighthill Cottage, North Tolsta.

Joan married John Campbell, of 5 New Tolsta, and the couple settled at Sighthill Cottage, North Tolsta. They had three children: two girls and a boy.

Joan was widowed in 1990.
