Catherine, born 1814, was the daughter of Donald MacPhee and Christina MacRailt of Borve then Ruisgarry. In 1845, when the crofts in Ruisgarry were being re-organised, the family was moved to 8d Deiraclete.

Catherine married Angus MacLeod of Deiraclete, with whom she emigrated to Sydenham, Ontario.
