114944: Iain Macleod

Iain (born 1856) was the son of Alexander Macleod and Catherine Morrison; it is not certain where the family were living at the time of his birth. His father was from 14 Old Back and his mother was from 47 Back.

In 1858 the family obtained 60 Back.

Iain married Ann Maciver, of 34 Coll, and the couple settled at 60 Back and had seven children: three boys and four girls.

Iain worked as the Postman for Tolsta for many years and also acted as a substitute teacher at Sgoil na Leddies, which was run by the Edinburgh Ladies Higland Association.

In due course 60 Back passed to his eldest son: Murdo.
