117367: Neil Ban Bethune

Neil Bàn was the son of Angus Bethune of Berneray. Neil became a boat builder, living in Sheabie during the 18th century. He might have been the uncle who helped pay for his nephew Roderick’s education. Neil married twice and had at least two sons from his first marriage. Neil and his sons were drowned as they returned from Lochmaddy after buying provisions for the marriage of one of the sons.
