117720: Norman Paterson

Tormod Alasdair Thormoid

Norman was the older son of that name born to Alexander Paterson of Borve. The site of his childhood home was later known as Tobhta Alasdair 'ic Thormoid.

Further information about Norman comes from his family in Cape Breton: Norman, a carpenter, was born in 1799 and married twice, first to Mary MacLeod, with whom he had two children, John and Catherine. Norman emigrated to Grand River, Cape Breton about 1843. Norman married his second wife in Cape Breton. She was Catherine MacAskill, also originally from Berneray. Together they had six children: Norman, Donald, Mary, Donald, Angus and Ann.

It has been suggested that his second wife was a Christy Macleod.
