118542: Janet Maclean

Janet (1961-2018) was a daughter of Murdanie Maclean and Mary Ann Macdonald, 5 Aird. She attended Crowlista School and the Nicolson Institute. After gaining her Honours degree in Celtic Studies from Aberdeen University she obtained a post graduate Teaching Certificate. She taught in the Isle of Barra, the Nicolson Institute, Plockton High School and then moved to Fife. Janet had a second career as a writer of children’s Gaelic books and a translator of teaching materials. She was for a time a Gaelic Development Officer in Museum nan Eilean.

Janet latterly lived with her husband at Tong. They had two sons.
