118651: Raymond Goodge

Raymond (1934-2018) was a son of Cyril Alfred Goodge and Johanna Buchanan, Miavaig. He attended Valtos School and the Nicolson Institute. He spent a few years in the Royal Air Force and drove buses in Glasgow before coming home to Uig. Raymond helped out with the operation of his parents’ petrol pumps at Miavaig. He kept livestock, took up Harris Tweed weaving and did spells of long distance lorry – driving.

In 1963, Raymond married Christina Martin, Shader, Barvas, who was one of the district nurses in Uig. They lived in the Nurse’s Cottage, Mangersta before building their own home, Dunray, Miavaig. They had no family.
