Murdo Mackenzie (1830-1905) was a son of Donald Mackenzie and Catherine Macdonald, 11 Leurbost. His mother died in 1842 and his father married Margaret Smith, 25 Old Leurbost.
In Lochs, in 1854, he married Gormelia Mackenzie, 32 Leurbost. Murdo and Gormelia settled at 32 Leurbost and they had three children, only two of whom survived.
Murdo was widowed in 1860 and in Lochs, in 1866, he married Christina Macdonald, 9 Habost. Christina had been a servant to Murdo prior to their marriage. Murdo and Christina settled at 32 Leurbost and they had four children.
