Roderick Ross (1834-1909) was a son of Donald Ross and Mary Macbeath, Norway House, Manitoba. The family also lived at York Factory.

In Winnipeg, in 1863, he married Victoria Harriot, Fort Edmonton, Alberta. Roderick and Victoria moved a great deal and 1864 were at Fort Vermillion, in 1866 at Fort Chipewyan, in 1869 at Red River and in 1878 at Norway House, Manitoba. In 1881 Roderick was a Hudson's Bay Factor at Norway House and by 1901 the family had settled in Selkirk and Roderick was a Fur Trader.

The couple had six children.
