12045: Alexander Mackenzie
Alexander (1807-1879) was a son of Kenneth Mackenzie and Mary Maclean, Buanish. The family were evicted in order to make room for the expanding sheep farm. They lived for a time at Orinsay before settling at 8 Old Lemreway.
In Lochs, in 1835, he married Margaret Macarthur, 13 Cromore. Alexander and Margaret were Cottars at 8 Old Lemreway where they had three of their six children.
The village was cleared in 1843 and the family were moved to Croft No. 26 Crossbost.
