Margaret (1856-1945) was the daughter of Evander MacIver and Marion MacLeod of 15 Melbost.
In 1883, at Melbost, she married James Smith, a cottar on the croft at 10 Branahuie; Margaret and James settled at 10 Branahuie and they had six children. Margaret, James and their children subsequently moved to Stornoway.
James and son, John emigrated to Canada in 1902. Margaret, Donald, Christina and Marion emigrated in 1906 on the SS Mongolian. Margaret and James were Homesteaders at Central Butte, Saskatchewan.
Margaret was widowed in 1930.
