Murdo Macrae
Murdo (1886-1943) was a son of Roderick Macrae and Mary Macleod, 6 Habost. The croft was overcrowded and the family moved to Back of Wall.
In Lochs, in 1917 he married Catherine Mackay, 12 Keose. Murdo and Catherine settled at 12b Keose and they had eight children.
Murdo served for 8 years with the Seaforths, 5 of those years in India. He was wounded in France during the First World War and his right leg was amputated. He was awarded the Mons Star British Service Medal. His name is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
