15211: Donald Kennedy

Donald (1864-1952) was a son of Dugald Kennedy and Margaret Nicolson, 2 Calbost. In 1866 the family obtained 2b Calbost. He was a crofter, a fisherman and he also operated a shoemaker's business, drawing work from all the surrounding villages.
At Fraserburgh, in 1896, he married Catherine Mackay, 29 Gravir. Donald and Catherine settled at 2b Calbost and they had ten children. As senior citizens they moved to Nairn with their daughter Joan.
Four members of Catherine and Donald's family emigrated to the Americas in the 1920s and they lost a son in each of the two World Wars.
The croft at 2a Calbost was passed to Donald.
