Catherine was a daughter of Louis Mackay and Margaret Macdonald,  15 Melbost Borve, Isle of Lewis.

At Inverness, in 1951, she married Neil Morrison Macleod, 3 Calbost. Catherine and Neil settled at 3 Calbost and they had two daughters.

The family later moved to 126 Newmarket.
