16118: Alexander Macdonald

Alasdair Iain Dhonnchaidh

Alexander  (1820-1893) was a son of John Macdonald and Effie Macrae, 8 Old Orinsay.

Orinsay was cleared in 1843 and the family were removed to 16 Crossbost.

There is a local tradition that Alexander and three brothers lived in the house belonging to Allan Ross (the schoolmaster who had moved to Crossbost after the disruption of 1843), after the clearing of Orinsay.

In Lochs, in 1852,  he married Ann Mackenzie, 9 Keose. Alexander and Ann settled at 13 Keose and they had eleven children.
