Jessie (born 1884) was a daughter of Angus Macritchie and Catherine Macaulay, 4 Aird, Uig. She married John Smith from Ballantrushal and since he served with the Seaforth Highlanders they moved about a lot. They had three daughters and a son.

The family returned to live at 4 Aird, Uig, before relocating to 13 Ardroil. Malcolm MacDonald, 20 Crowlista had been allocated 13 Ardroil when the village was relotted but did not come to live there.
