17948: Ann Beaton

Ann (1837-1934) was the daughter of John Beaton and Ann Macaulay of Tobson.

The family emigrated to Quebec.

Ann married David Willie who deserted her, leaving her homeless and penniless with two children. Other members of her family helped her and after the death of her brother Norman’s wife in 1882 she kept house for him until his second marriage. Her son Frank went off to the Klondyke gold rush and was never heard of again. A long time after Willie’s disappearance, when he was considered legally dead, she married John “Slick” Graham, a widower with two sons and a daughter.
