18363: John Mackay

John Mackay (1887-1916) was a son of Donald Mackay and Margaret Morrison, 12 Keose.

John went to Canada in 1903 and served with the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles Battalion during the First World War. He enrolled using the name Tom Martin; his service number was 622326 and he was killed in action. John was buried in Sanctuary Wood Cemetery, near Ypres in Belgium; his headstone bears a Biblical inscription,  in Scottish Gaelic, of Psalms, chapter 90, verse 15:
