23328: Alexander Morrison

Alasdair Chaluim Alasdair

Alexander (1908-1987) was a son of Malcolm Morrison and Marion Mackay, 9b Calbost.

He  worked in the Whaling Station at South Georgia and returned home and joined the Merchant Navy in 1939. Alexander survived three incidents of being sunk by enemy action on the SS Cumberland, the SS Michael E and on the SS Alderdale. His name is mentioned in Roll of Honour: Pairc, Second World War.

After the War he was a fisherman on the MFV Delight and survived the sinking off  Gruinard Island on the north west coast of Scotland.

Alexander was married to Ann Macleod, 14b Grimshader and they lived at Stornoway.
