Alexander (1830-1901) was a son of Donald Mackenzie and Christina Kennedy, 1 Old Orinsay.
The family were removed to 19 Crossbost in 1843 when the land was cleared to make way for the Pairc sheep farm.
In Stornoway, in 1865, he married Catherine Mackenzie, 5 Laxay. Alexander and Catherine settled at 5 Laxay and they had eight children.
