Murdo (born 1828) was a son of John Macphail and Christina Maclean, 9 Old Gravir. His widowed mother obtained 12 Gravir in the 1852 lotting.
In Lochs, in 1853, he married Marion Macinnes, 36 Gravir. Murdo and Marion were Cottars at 19 Gravir and they had two daughters.
Murdo was widowed in February 1861 and he returned to 12 Gravir with his two daughters.
In Lochs, in 1862, married Catherine Maclean, Geocrab, Harris. The couple were Cottars at 19 Gravir and they had four children.
