25989: Donald Mackenzie

Donald Mackenzie (1899-1973) son of Malcolm Mackenzie and Catherine Macmillan, 15 Laxay served with the RNR during the First World War and was an Able Seaman with the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He was wounded when the "Mona’s Isle" was sunk in the operations at Dunkirk in 1940. He was discharged on medical grounds in 1944. He married Kate Ann Macdonald, 8 Doune, Carloway and lived at 15 Laxay.
