Elizabeth, who came from Skye, was married to Murdo Macaulay who was tacksman of Valtos. She may have been commonly known as Bess, as a stone that was erected in memory of her son John, supposedly at her behest, was known as Clach Bheas.

She is also said to have composed several laments to her son.
