28387: Neil Maciver

Neil was married to Ann Macaulay and lived at Pabbay before relocating to Reef. He is recorded in the Reef farm tenant list of 1824 as owner of five head of cattle and seven sheep.

The following is an account given by his son Angus (the Catechist);

….My father Neil Maciver was a Small Tenant and Fisherman. My Mother’s Maiden name was Anna Macaulay. When I was a Boy, the Family consisted of six sons, and two daughters and two of our Family died in childhood. So that my Parents was blessed with the number of Ten children.

….my dear Father was a kind Parent and made it a duty to give a little education to the four younger sons…..
