Mary Macritchie (c1780-1871) married William Macdonald and lived in Kneep; Mary and William had eight children. She was widowed in 1839, and lived with her son John and his family in North Shawbost.

When John and his family emigrated, in 1851, to Winslow, Quebec, Mary and another of her sons, Donald, emigrated with them. Mary settled with another son, Norman, who had emigrated in 1847, in Winslow.
