29183: John Macmillan

John, son of Malcolm and Christina nee Maciver, was born in Kirkibost c1793. When that village was cleared in 1823 he moved, as many of the villagers did, to Shader in Point. Married to Catherine Macdonald from Gisla they had no family of their own and, according to tradition, his wife taunted him so mercilessly that he slept with their servant and they had a son whom he called Benoni (mac mo dhoileas) Benjamin. The son was raised by John and his wife and although the son married and had five of a family they had no offspring.
