Mary Macleod was the daughter of Neil Macleod and Catherine Mackenzie, she lived on Vuia Mhor and married Donald Martin, also of Vuia.

They left the island before it was cleared and were living in Geshader in 1841 with their children John (25), Ann (15) and Donald (13). They didn't have land in Geshader and emigrated to Cape Breton shortly afterwards, apparently also in 1841. They settled on Lewis Mountain - two miles West of Bucklaw.
