William (1836-1918) was a son of John Macdonald and Mary Nicolson, 23 Old Leurbost.
His father emigrated to North America and William, his mother and his brother Donald went to live with their maternal grandparents at 5 Kershader.
In Lochs, in 1862, he married Marion Macleod, 11 Habost. William and Marion settled at 5 Kershader and they had eight children.
William was widowed in 1909.
