38327: Kenneth Mackenzie, Lord Fortrose
Kenneth Mackenzie (c1718-1761), was the eldest son of the Fifth Earl of Seaforth, who was attainted after the battle of Sheriffmuir in 1719 and lost his title and his estates, including the Isle of Lewis. Seaforth was later pardoned and his estate was returned, but not his title.
Kenneth therefore inherited the Isle of Lewis but was known as Lord Fortrose. He was loyal to the Hanoverian crown, was a member of Parliament and lived mostly in London, showing little interest in the Island.
