41195: Jane Mackay
Jane (1829-1892) was a daughter of sergeant William MacKay and Janet Gordon, Jamestown, Thurso. She married James Macrae of Harris and after their marriage came to live in Miavaig, Uig, where her husband was Registrar and Inspector of the Poor. They had a family at Miavaig Farm.
Jane died in 1892 at the United Free Church Manse in Berneray, her daughter Margaret’s home, and is buried at Baile na Cille cemetery:
In loving memory of James MacRae who died at Miavaig, Uig, 1903 aged 75 years. Also his beloved wife Jean Mackay who died at Bernera Harris 1892.
