Neil (1893-1974) was a son of John Macaulay and Christina Macdonald, 4 Hacklete. During WW1 he served with 1st Seaforths (sergeant), he was wounded in action 10th March 1915 in France and Mesopotamia 22nd Feb 1917; awarded 1915 Star.

He was married twice; his first wife Mary Paterson, from 3 Park Carloway, died shortly after childbirth - the child died at around a year old. His second wife was Mary Macaulay from No 19 Hacklete with whom he had five children.
